A general MCP Server scaffold — FastAPI + FastMCP integration template.

What This Is

A clean starting point for quickly building MCP (Model Context Protocol) services.

MCP is the protocol standard for AI models to call external tools. This template lets you expose any functionality as an AI-callable tool with minimal configuration.

Core features:

  • One decorator = supports both MCP protocol + HTTP interface

  • Multiple modules mounted independently, each module does not interfere with the others

Quick Start

Prerequisites

  • Python >= 3.12

  • uv

Installation

# 克隆模板
git clone <your-repo-url> my-mcp-server
cd my-mcp-server

uv sync

# 配置环境变量
cp .env-sample .env

Start

# 方式一:uvicorn(推荐)
uv run uvicorn app.main:app --reload

# 方式二:python
uv run python -m app.main

# 方式三:fastapi CLI

Verification

Adding New Business Modules

The template includes example.py as a reference. To create a new module:

  1. Copy app/routers/example.py to app/routers/your_module.py

  2. Modify the module content — rename it, change the route prefix, write your tool functions

  3. Register it in app/main.py

Tool functions can be called by both AI (via MCP) and browsers (via HTTP):
